This drug test is engineered specifically to detect THC-COOH. Without getting too technical and too scientific, THC-COOH is the net result that remains after a person’s body breaks down the marijuana (that process is called metabolite).
The metabolite process is certain and predictable and cannot be subverted, at least as far as we know in the present. Moreover, every single person metabolizes drugs in the same way.
Standard drug tests must detect at least 50 nanograms per milliliter of THC-COOH to be deemed a positive test result. The majority of drug tests performed by any company or organization will include a screening for the presence of THC-COOH.
It is safe to assume that if you’re called in for a drug test, you will most likely be tested for THC-COOH.
A common 5-panel drug screen is on the lookout for the presence of:
- Amphetamines (incl methamphetamine)
- Cocaine
- Marijuana (via the presence of THC-COOH)
- Opiates (includingheroin, morphine, and codeine)
- Phencyclidine (PCP)
Keep in mind that an employer can choose to add additional drug testing panels such: Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Methadone, MDMA (Ecstasy, Molly), Oxycodone, as well as other doctor prescribed drugs.
